After Jeff and I compared notes... We got it figured that Amanda's VERY INDEPENDENT and progressive views clashed (putting it mildly) with one of the con-go-ers images of what a woman should be. The con go-er seemed to think that a woman ought to be more modest and reserved and Amanda is anything but. We missed the escalation and the exchange that lead to the "incident" however that seems to be the cause. One thing is for sure...I shall never talk about femininity around miss Winn-Lee EVER! That's the stuff nightmares are made of!

I agree about the modesty issue. Costumes are getting skimpier and skimpier. Not sure what he meant by "reserved", though.

The "lady" in question was a steampunker who evidently has victorian ideas about how a lady should act. Not necessarily a bad thing but when she pushed her ideas as fact on to others, that set Amanda off, particularly since this was Amanda's panel. In the end, it was clear that No One tells Amanda what to do in her panel.

Especially since the "Victorian Ideal" is mostly a myth made up within the last 50-60 years about how things were - when they were not actually that way.

Especially thanks to the way that fiction has portrayed eras in books and movies.

Anime Salt Lake doesn't have any interesting guests. I'm going to CONduit in April and saving my money.

I wonder why they make it sound as if all three things had anything to do with each other? Smear campaign. They're separate incidents and won't even say why the one was unconscious. She could have had a seizure. Here's a REAL report. forums.animeboston.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=15328
