Hmmm ... Okay ... my vacations are when I go to conventions. I've been going to conventions for over <ahem> 10 years. If anyone has questions, ask away. Doesn't seem to be many who are thinking of going to any convention. Don't be shy. POST!

Yeah I got one, I've never been to a convention before, so I'm wondering, what is the percentage of actual anime dub voice actor fans(like you and me) to all the Dub hating Subbies? I'm guessing they outnumber us by a great deal but it doesn't hinder the experience does it?
Another one is just how much actual meeting time do you actually get to spend with the guys(I'm asking for the best case scenario, in this case, super small cons)
And my favorite question, what are the 18+ panels like? I hear stories all the time from my Friend Kyle Hebert, but he's just one guy, have you seen any other ones? and if so with who?

At AWA, I spent all my time (and money) in Artist Alley and the merchant room. The only panel I attended was the Death Note Murder Mystery. The second one I attended was Anime Banzai, and when I wasn't attending panels on writing, I went to a couple on sewing/cosplaying, The World Ends With You, the video game room, and a couple with Sonny Strait. Have to say he dominated Banzai, lol. He signed and drew a picture on my headrest, and we went to a dinner with him, too. Whew, if he had a sensor that would bleep out his naughty words, he would earn a LOOOOOT of money. "One on one" facetime, maybe a minute per guest. Special conditions apply, such as fan clubs and panels and interviews. Cons put guests on a tight schedule. There's panels about Dub vs. Sub, and everyone has their preference, but I don't know of any statistics. It rarely comes up and does not hinder anything at all. Cosplay reaches across all languages!

Never really checked on Subbies. I would expect most of them are like me. <old man voice> Back in the day, ( early 80's) Dubs just plain SUCKED. Think "all your base are belong to us". If you're not familiar with the phrase, google it. Most fans today are used to dubbed anime. The purists are those who get anime by alternate means. The attitude has to do with translation and getting the storyline across. Some people feel subtitles are more accurate and thus give a better picture. that's not always the case. Best example I can think of is You're Under Arrest. the Japanese producers thought the American production was better both in casting and storytelling. ... Not sure if that answers your question ... Bottom line: I've never had it come up in 10 + years of con going. We're there to celebrate anime in all it's forms.
Face time. ... usually good at industry panels. (please ask good questions and don't be a 'tard!) If the 'tards waste time asking dumb questions or repeat questions, there goes the precious time allotted for the panel!! Autograph sessions are short, due to length of the line. Most VA's try to make it memorable, but can't spend time chatting. If you are lucky and the line is short ( good luck) they will usually chat till the handler gets pushy.
18+ panels ... varies on the actor, the location and the crowd. I'm not sure if you are talking about panels with the actors, parody panels, or screening room of hentai / yaoi / yuri.

Definitely Voice Actors, Hentai Panels are a whole different animal entirely.

ugh ... dragging today. This may not make sense. not sure if I am thinking straight, or if I remember where I was going with this from earlier.
Not all cons have a 18+ panels. It will also depend on the actor and how the crowd responds to him. Each one is different and if it is free flowing, who knows where it is going to go ...

Feeling a little frisky. Things to do at con to pass the time.
Fishing for Ravers. get a little fishing rod. tie glow sticks to end. You'd be surprised what you catch!! remember most cons have a catch and release system. Security tends to frown on keeping your catch.
Variation: use cat toys to try for cat girls! WARNING. you might catch a cat boy!! Had to cut the line more than once!
Bring Hackey Sack. useful when waiting in line for that panel that has line wrapping around hotel.
Bring small bottle of febreeze. good for defeating con funk! WARNING: remember what happened to the Febreeze Ninja!! Use sparingly.
Elevator games: if you are stuck in the back of a full elevator, when the doors close, announce loudly " maybe I shouldn't have had the ma po tofu with extra chili sauce!"
I had forgotten MULLET HUNTING!!
Will keep adding to this list as I get bored.

OMG cat toys, I love it! But there's so many furries, and they usually are dogs, so some dog toys are not out of order...

I have separate bags that I keep to organize stuff:
Repair bag.
Hot glue gun super glue Sewing kit Duct tape (remember: It's not just for the bedroom !) double-sided tape Multi-tool flashlight
Run around bag: pseudo backpack/gearslinger (one strap not two)
first aid kit Hydration bladder additional water bottle (still freaked out by Ecstasy incident @ **) muchies/snacks/ candy/ emergency distractions when 16 yr girl hit on older asian guy/ offering to Her Majesty and her court camera/extra batteies/extra memory cards. laptop chocolate covered espresso beans!! (sensu beans) maps of con(dragon con covers 5 hotels) list of panels/events organized by time flashlight if running with crew, walkie talkies cell phone and extra battery laser pointer to pass the time (mines green!) fun with cat girls small bottle of febreeze for when furries or gamers get to close must be easily accessible!! Depending on con, a fold able camp stool. Poncho for bad weather and running between hotels fishing rod. see above. I have a special badge holder instead of lanyard. cash is good. used to barter in dealers room on last day when dealers would rather sell instead of pack stuff up. bag of holding is empty to make room for loot!
I usually bring a cooler to leave in room. drinks are expensive @ con. so is beer!!
bathing is a MUST, else you will be classified as a gamer and/or furry.

Someone spiked the public water supply with Ecstasy. Surprise! If I remember right, it was during the Rave. It got ... interesting. I found out from a volunteer who showed up at Phreaknic ( Nashville hacker con). he does quite a few big anime cons. Fortunately, it was not wide spread. only one watering station involved. I predicted something like this happening back in the early 2000's. Benefit/curse of being paranoid and military trained ...

Okay, I've got a question. Is joining those hotel clubs worth it? I belong to both the Marriott rewards club and just joined the Hilton rewards club. I've gotten one free stay out of it over 10 years. Since it was for a dragon con stay, I thought it was worth it, but cost was high. Just curious what others thought. thanks!

My con advise: Money: however much you think is enough FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND, FIGURING EATING 3 MEALS PER DAY PLUS DEALER ROOM EXPENSES, it is NOT enough. Double that amount. This is still a little low, so add an extra $100.00 for emergencies. AND - keep .50 and a $10 bill folded AND HIDDEN somewhere as a final DESPERATE "OH CRAP!!! WHAT AM I GONNA DO???" fund, this last bit will allow you to make a substantial phone call in case things go horribly wrong.
Hotel Room: if you are attending more than one day GET ONE. Don't be a cheapskate. SUCK IT UP AND GET ONE. USE THE SHOWER. OFTEN. Possibly even two times per day.
Money and a room will fix SO MANY problems. You have NO IDEA. Tired? Go to the room? Need to use the bathroom? Go to the room. Ripped your costume? Go to the room. Fed up with the crowd? Go to the room.
These are the two things I have determined to be the most important factors in enjoying a con in the dozen years I have been going to them.
I also have a list of tips about talking to voice actors (which had input from actual voice actors) if anyone is interested.
